Job summary

Ice Miller LLP is seeking a mid-level Commercial Litigation Associate to join our Litigation Practice Group in Columbus. The role targets candidates with 3–5 years of experience, a passion for leading cases, and a track record of teamwork and strategic development.

You will handle complex litigation, supervise junior staff, mentor peers, and collaborate with partners on client pitches and relationship management, with a clear path for advancement.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
• At least three (3) years of experience practicing law in a law firm.
• Active law license in Ohio.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent analytical skills and business judgement.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Handle all aspects of complex litigation, including case assessment, pleadings, discovery strategy, motion practice, depositions, trial and/or oral advocacy.
• Manage business disputes in federal and state courts and before arbitration panels, including coordinating experts, overseeing large case dockets, and leading fact investigations (interviews and records review).
• Draft and develop litigation strategies, pleadings, briefs, and motions, and engage in strategic depositions and witness preparation.
• Supervise and mentor junior associates and paralegals, supporting their professional development and training.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, including general counsels, executives, boards, and other key stakeholders.
• Collaborate with partners on business development and client relationship management, including participating in pitches, contributing to presentations and proposals, and supporting ongoing client engagement, with a clear path for advancement and active encouragement to grow a practice.
