Job summary

One80 Intermediaries Inc. in New York, NY is seeking a Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter to market new and renewal accounts and communicate effectively with carriers.

The role involves evaluating risk, making underwriting and pricing decisions, and documenting results in accordance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of commercial P&C underwriting experience (Excess & Surplus lines preferred), an associate degree or higher, and strong English/Mandarin bilingual

Qualifications

• Associate Degree or higher, plus 5 years of relevant commercial Property & Casualty underwriting experience.
• An additional 2 years of commercial P&C underwriting experience can substitute for a degree.
• Excess and Surplus Lines experience is highly preferred.
• Bilingual English/Mandarin strongly preferred.
• Must be able to react, respond quickly and professionally.
• Creative, analytical and innovative thinking for problem solving.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate information to determine risk acceptability per guidelines.
• Make underwriter and pricing decisions and negotiate with carriers.
• Communicate decisions clearly and document them per regulatory standards.
• Act with urgency on inquiries/requests and provide outstanding customer service.
• Underwrite a moderate book of business with moderate to complex risk profiles.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
