Senior Commercial HVAC Technician - Career Path to Project Management

We are excited to partner with a growing commercial mechanical contracting company seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Technician, Lead Technician, Foreman, or Field Supervisor who is ready to take the next step in their career and transition into Project Management

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on HVAC professional who wants to leverage their field expertise while developing the skills needed to successfully manage projects, customers, schedules, budgets, and teams. You'll work alongside experienced Project Managers and gain exposure to all aspects of commercial HVAC project execution.

What You'll Do

As you develop into the Project Manager role, you'll gain experience in:

• Negotiating contract scope, buyouts, and purchase orders
• Developing and maintaining relationships with owners, general contractors, vendors, suppliers, project managers, and field staff
• Assisting with project organization, estimating, scheduling, implementation, and closeout activities
• Monitoring project budgets, forecasting manpower needs, tracking job costs, and supporting monthly billings
• Coordinating equipment procurement and release schedules
• Communicating project status, schedule updates, and changes with customers and subcontractors
• Managing change orders, pricing discussions, and project documentation
• Supporting project execution to ensure work is completed according to company standards and specifications
• Spending time in the field working directly with technicians and supervisors to understand project progress and workforce needs
• Building long‑term client relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle
• Collaborating with leadership to proactively identify project risks, challenges, and opportunities

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial HVAC experience
• Experience as a Commercial HVAC Technician, Lead Technician, Foreman, Field Supervisor, Service Technician, or similar role
• Strong understanding of commercial mechanical systems
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and technical schematics
• Experience working with general contractors, subcontractors, and customers
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to local job sites

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience reviewing plans in Bluebeam
• Exposure to estimating, project coordination, scheduling, or job costing
• Familiarity with RFIs, change orders, submittals, and construction documentation
• Knowledge of commercial building codes and mechanical systems
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Autodesk products, and project management software
