Job summary

Software Placement Group is seeking a Senior Estimator for a growing commercial general contractor in the Greater Boston area. You will develop accurate project estimates, support business development, and collaborate with operations to secure and transition new work.

Responsibilities include preparing detailed estimates, analyzing drawings, evaluating scope and risks, and coordinating with subcontractors and vendors.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
• Experience with conceptual estimates, hard bids, and design-build budgets.
• Proficient with estimating software like Sage, BuildingConnected, Bluebeam.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and organization.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates, budgets, and bid proposals for commercial projects.
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documents to develop pricing.
• Evaluate project scope, identify risks, and recommend cost-saving or value engineering opportunities.
• Solicit and compare subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure competitive coverage.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and industry partners.
• Develop bid packages, manage RFIs, and communicate project requirements throughout estimating process.
• Coordinate with project management and preconstruction teams during estimate reviews and handoffs.
• Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and project walkthroughs as required.
• Utilize estimating software and Microsoft Office to prepare accurate project documentation.
