Job summary

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of commercial construction estimating experience, a strong grasp of means and methods, and the ability to mentor junior estimators while building client and subcontractor relationships.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• Experience on ground-up, core & shell, renovation, and interior fit-out projects.
• Strong reading of drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency with estimating software and Excel.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead conceptual and final estimates for complex commercial projects.
• Develop budgets, perform takeoffs, analyze costs.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Identify risks, constructability challenges, and value engineering opportunities.
• Lead estimate reviews, bid presentations, and turnover meetings.
• Build relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subs, and suppliers.
• Mentor Estimators and Assistant Estimators.

I'm partnering with a well-established and growing commercial general contractor in the Peabody, MA area that is seeking a Senior Estimator to play a key leadership role within its Preconstruction team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator who enjoys collaborating with Operations, Project Management, and Field teams to deliver accurate estimates and help position projects for success from concept through completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead conceptual, schematic, design development, and final estimates for complex commercial construction projects.
• Develop budgets, perform quantity takeoffs, and analyze project costs.
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Identify project risks, constructability challenges, and value engineering opportunities.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Operations to develop project execution strategies.
• Lead estimate reviews, bid presentations, and project turnover meetings.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Mentor and develop Estimators and Assistant Estimators.

• Strong understanding of construction means and methods, scheduling, and cost management.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

• Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and construction technology platforms.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
