Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced Estimator for the Boston market to own the full estimating cycle, collaborate with preconstruction and operations, and deliver competitive, accurate bids for complex commercial projects.

With 5+ years in construction estimating, you will analyze drawings, perform MTO, negotiate with vendors, and support value engineering, helping the team win bids and maintain a strong project pipeline.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in construction estimating or a similar role.
• Experience in project bidding, budgeting, value engineering, MTO, negotiation, and cost analysis.
• Strong mathematical and IT abilities with a keen eye for detail.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Sound knowledge of construction processes, materials, and legal regulations.
• Proficiency in MS Office and industry software.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; professional certification a plus.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates for bidding and budgeting.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to understand project requirements and timelines.
• Perform detailed analysis of project designs and specifications to determine overall project costs.
• Leverage Material Take Off (MTO) to accurately calculate material quantities.
• Conduct regular cost analyses and value engineering exercises to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
• Participate in the negotiation process with contractors and suppliers to secure best prices and terms.
• Continually monitor industry trends and prices to ensure competitive pricing.
• Prepare and present detailed reports and project estimates to stakeholders, including potential clients and senior leadership.
• Maintain a comprehensive database of updated project costs and relevant market information.
• Ensure compliance with company standards and procedures in all estimating activities.
