Job summary

Canto is hiring its first in-house legal leader to design and scale a modern contracting function focused on growth through strategic commercial agreements. Reporting to the CFO, you will build AI-enabled contracting operations and own end-to-end processes across Sales, Finance, and the executive team.

You’ll drive speed to signature while maintaining risk controls, establish CLM playbooks, and partner with Security and Product on AI governance.

Qualifications

• J.D. and active bar membership in good standing.
• 5–8 years of legal experience in SaaS or technology, in‑house or via law firms.
• Strong experience negotiating commercial SaaS agreements (MSAs, subscription agreements, DPAs, NDAs).
• Working knowledge of data privacy frameworks including GDPR/CCPA.

Responsibilities

• Drive Commercial Contracting & Sales Enablement.
• Negotiate and execute commercial SaaS agreements with guardrails for speed and risk.
• Lead end-to-end contracting operations and implement AI-enabled workflow.
• Implement CLM systems with templates, playbooks, and approval workflows.
• Leverage AI tools for contract review and risk flagging.
• Partner with Security, Product, and Exec leadership on AI-related regulatory matters.
