Job summary

Canto in the United States is seeking a Commercial Counsel to build and scale a modern in-house legal function from the ground up, focusing on commercial contracting as a growth driver in a scaling SaaS company.

You will own end-to-end contracting, implement CLM systems and playbooks, enable Sales, manage risk across privacy and governance, and partner with Security and Executive leadership on AI, data governance, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of legal experience in SaaS or technology.
• Strong experience negotiating commercial SaaS agreements.
• Working knowledge of data privacy frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
• Ability to operate independently and build processes from scratch.
• Experience partnering with Sales in a high-velocity environment.

Responsibilities

• Own negotiation and execution of commercial SaaS agreements, MSAs, DPAs and NDAs.
• Lead end-to-end contracting operations and scaling initiatives.
• Implement and manage a CLM system with templates and workflows.
• Advise on privacy, governance, and AI-related regulatory requirements.
