Job summary

Byrne & Jones Construction in the Midwest seeks an experienced Commercial Concrete Operations Manager to lead field operations, crews, equipment, scheduling, production, and project execution while ensuring safety, quality, on-time delivery, and budget adherence across our commercial concrete projects.

The ideal candidate demonstrates leadership, problem-solving, and the ability to coordinate with PMs, subs, and suppliers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in commercial concrete construction with increasing responsibility.
• Experience directing concrete crews, foremen, superintendents, or field ops.
• Strong understanding of methods, scheduling, production, and sequencing.
• Ability to read plans, specs, and project schedules.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and multitasking skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office and learning company-specific software.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• OSHA 30 or comparable safety training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the commercial concrete division.
• Plan manpower, equipment, materials, and crews to meet schedules.
• Coordinate with Project Managers and Superintendents for project execution.
• Oversee crews, provide direction and accountability.
• Monitor production, labor costs, equipment use, and performance.
• Review schedules and anticipate operational challenges.
• Coordinate with estimating and project management during planning.
• Ensure crews have materials, drawings, and information needed.
• Maintain high standards for quality, safety, and efficiency.
• Support troubleshooting when field conditions change.
• Coordinate equipment needs, maintenance, and utilization.
• Assist with recruiting, training, and development of concrete staff.
• Set clear foreman expectations and hold teams accountable.
• Promote safety culture and OSHA compliance.
• Document jobsite conditions and operational issues.
• Engage with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and customers.
• Provide updates to leadership in project meetings.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, productivity, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
• Forecast labor and equipment needs for upcoming work.
• Travel to jobsites in St. Louis area and surrounding markets as needed.
