Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in accounts receivable, reconciliations and payment posting.
• Knowledge of collection techniques and best practices.
• Proficiency in AR processes, basic accounting principles, and accounting software.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Proven leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
• Strong negotiation, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Analytical thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
• Decisive, adaptable, and customer-service oriented.
• Experience in construction, stormwater, or hydro‑excavation industries (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Monitor AR aging reports to identify overdue accounts and lead collection activities, including reminders, phone calls, and collection letters.
• Lead, coach, and supervise the AR team, including assigning tasks, monitoring productivity, and conducting performance evaluations.
• Negotiate payment plans and agreements that support company financial goals while maintaining strong customer relationships.
• Respond to customer inquiries and resolve invoice and payment discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Implement and maintain efficient AR procedures and systems to streamline collections and ensure accuracy in financial records.
• Prepare regular AR reports, including overdue accounts and collection activity, and analyze trends affecting cash flow.
• Partner with sales and operations teams to ensure accurate billing information.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes with the finance department.
• Identify and implement innovative collections strategies and process improvements.
