Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Coding Quality Auditor to ensure accurate ICD-9/ICD-10 and CPT coding for inpatient and outpatient encounters, based on documentation in the medical record and in compliance with regulatory guidelines.

The role supports data quality reviews and performance improvement projects, collaborating with the coding team, physicians, CDMP, IT and case management to preserve data integrity and revenue.

Qualifications

• Requires AHIMA certification (RHIT, RHIA, or CCS)
• Five years of coding auditing experience
• Associate degree or higher in HIM-related program or equivalent experience
• Proficient in English reading/writing for safety and accuracy

Responsibilities

• Code diagnosis and procedure codes accurately for inpatient/outpatient encounters
• Participate in quality reviews and performance improvement projects
• Collaborate with HIM, physicians, CDMP, IT and Case Management to preserve data integrity and revenue
• Assist with physician queries and training for CDMP and coding workflows
• Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and standards

Education

Associate’s degree or higher in an accredited Health Information Management program
