Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector II to lead inspections of protective coatings on industrial, water, and infrastructure projects. You will plan hold points per coating specs, verify surface prep, application, and cure, perform adhesion and holiday testing, and sign off at each hold point.

You will also guide Level 1 inspectors and prepare comprehensive reports for owners and engineers.

Qualifications

AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 2 certification, current.
2+ years inspecting under CIP Level 2.
Familiar with SSPC/NACE surface prep standards and coating systems.
Able to halt work that is out of specification and document it.

Responsibilities

Plan inspection hold points and testing from the coating specification and the manufacturer’s data; Verify surface preparation, application, and cure with sign-off authority at each hold point; Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing; disposition defects and specify repairs.
Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review their logs; Write inspection and nonconformance reports; represent the inspection program to the owner and applicator.
Verify hold points and testing progress; maintain compliance with SSPC/NACE/AMPP standards; ensure documentation and reporting accuracy.
Coordinate with owners, applicators, and project teams to ensure coatings programs meet contractual requirements.
