Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector II to lead inspection of protective coating and lining work on industrial, water, and infrastructure projects. You will plan hold points, verify surface prep, application and cure, and sign off at each hold point to ensure compliance.

Responsibilities include adhesion, holiday, and cure testing; writing inspection and nonconformance reports; supervising Level 1 inspectors on larger projects; communicating with owner and applicator and

Qualifications

AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 2 certification current, with 2+ years inspecting under it.
Command of SSPC/NACE surface prep standards and common industrial coating systems.
Experience on tank, pipeline, water/wastewater, or structural steel coating projects.
Ability to stop an application out of specification and document it to close.

Responsibilities

Plan inspection hold points and testing from the coating specification and manufacturer data.
Verify surface preparation, application, and cure with sign-off at each hold point.
Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing; disposition defects and specify repairs.
Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review their logs.
Write inspection and nonconformance reports; represent the program to owner and applicator.
