Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector II to lead inspections of protective coatings on industrial, water, and infrastructure projects. You will plan hold points, verify surface prep, track cure, and sign off on each stage with authority.

You will perform adhesion and holiday testing, resolve nonconformances with applicators, and generate inspection reports relied on by owners and engineers. A Level 2 CIP certification and 2+ years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 2 certification, current, with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Experience on tank linings, pipeline coatings, or bridge and structural steel coatings.
• Command of SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards and common industrial coating systems.
• Able to stop an application that is out of specification and document it so it closes.

Responsibilities

• Plan inspection hold points and testing from the coating specification and the manufacturer's data.
• Verify surface preparation, application, and cure with sign-off authority at each hold point.
• Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing; disposition defects and specify repairs.
• Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review their logs; write inspection and nonconformance reports.
