Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector II to lead protective coating inspections on industrial, water, and infrastructure projects. You will plan hold points from the coating specification, verify surface prep, application, and cure, and sign off at each hold.

You’ll perform adhesion and holiday tests and resolve nonconformances with the applicator. Responsibilities include supervising Level 1 inspectors, writing reports, and representing the program to owners and contractors.

Qualifications

• AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 2 certification current with 2+ years of inspecting under it.
• Familiar with SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards and common industrial coating systems.
• Experience on tank, pipeline, water/wastewater, or structural steel coating projects.

Responsibilities

• Plan inspection hold points and testing from the coating specification and manufacturer data.
• Verify surface preparation, application, and cure with sign-off authority at each hold point.
• Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing; disposition defects and specify repairs.
• Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review their logs.
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports; represent the inspection program to owner and applicator.
