Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector II to lead inspection of protective coating and lining work on industrial, water, and infrastructure projects. You will plan hold points, verify surface prep, apply coatings, and sign off at each stage.

You will perform adhesion and holiday tests and resolve nonconformances with the applicator. Role includes supervising Level 1 inspectors on larger projects, writing reports, and presenting results to owners and engineers.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 2 certification, current, with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Familiarity with SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards and common industrial coating systems.
• Experience on tank, pipeline, water/wastewater, or structural steel coating projects.

Responsibilities

• Plan inspection hold points and testing per coating specification.
• Verify surface preparation, application, and cure with sign-off authority at each hold point.
• Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing; disposition defects and specify repairs.
• Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review their logs.
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports; represent the program to owner and applicator.
