Job summary

Stellant Systems in Melville, NY is seeking a Senior CNC Programmer Machinist to set up and operate manual and CNC equipment to produce precision parts from drawings.

You will read complex blueprints, apply GD&T, select tooling, and develop machining strategies to meet tight tolerances for military/space-grade components.

Proficiency with Mastercam or Fusion 360, Haas CNC machinery, and meticulous attention to 5S/LEAN practices is required; onsite only.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or an associate degree with relevant experience.
• 8+ years in a machine shop; strong machining practices and materials knowledge.
• Experience with Haas CNC equipment and CAM software.
• Ability to hold tight tolerances with precision metrology tools.
• Lean/5S experience and strong communication.

Overview

Job Title: Senior CNC Programmer Machinist

Job Location: Melville, NY (100% onsite)Salary: $40.00-$55.00/hr DOE

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools—including lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, and Haas CNC machinery-to produce precision parts, tools, and fixtures from drawings, sketches, and operation sheets.
• Read and interpret complex blueprints and engineering documentation, applying shop mathematics and GD&T.
• Consistently achieve extremely tight dimensional tolerances required in military/space grade manufacturing.
• Determine required machinery, sequence of operations, setups, and machining strategies.
• Select proper cutting tools for each operation, including grinding, sharpening, and maintaining tooling.
• Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other inspection tools to verify conformance.
• Maintain excellent attention to detail, organization, and adherence to 5S standards to keep a clean and efficient shop environment.
• Monitor ongoing shop activities and identify needs for new equipment, tooling, work holding/fixturing, and process improvements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or associate’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience.
• 5+ years of experience in a machine shop environment with strong knowledge of machining practices, setups, tooling, and material characteristics (metals and plastics)
• Experience with Haas CNC equipment
• Proficiency in MasterCam and/or Fusion 360 for machining/CAM programming
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor is highly desirable
• Demonstrated ability to hold and verify tight tolerances using precision metrology tools
• Strong organization, attention to detail, and adherence to 5S/LEAN methodologies
• Excellent communications skills, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
• Microsoft Office proficiency
