Job summary

GE Vernova in Schenectady, NY seeks an experienced NC Programmer and Machinist to develop, implement, and support safe, reliable machining solutions for rotor/field and large machining shops. You will specify tooling, write NC programs, and train operators to execute successfully with quality results.

You will code for lathes, HBMs, NC centers, and other CNC equipment using APT, G-code, Vericut, Mastercam, and CAD/CAM software, collaborating with tooling engineers to keep production on schedule

Qualifications

• Bachelor's level technical degree or equivalent training.
• Minimum 5 years of NC programming and machine tool experience.
• Ability to read drawings to tolerance standards.
• Familiarity with ANSI Y14.5 tolerancing guidelines.
• Strong NC programming, machining and planning capabilities.
• Clear written and oral communication and organization skills.
• Team oriented and deadline-driven work ethic.
• Self-motivated with reliable follow-through.

Responsibilities

• Code and develop NC programs for lathes, HBMs, NC centers, and related equipment.
• Leverage APT, G-code, Vericut, Mastercam and CAD/CAM tools to create large programs.
• Train operators to execute programs with quality results.
• Support tooling specifications and procurement to meet schedules.
• Develop and revise tooling and NC programs for cost and cycle improvements.
• Create process workflows and estimations to guide operations.
• Prepare build books for new units and service jobs.
• Collaborate with union teams to maintain production alignment.
• Resolve technical issues promptly and maintain planning paperwork.
