Job summary

CMI Group is seeking a seasoned CNC Programmer for an on-site role in the Phoenix area. You will develop and optimize CNC programs for aerospace/defense components, translating drawings and 3D models into precise, efficient machining processes while ensuring compliance with AS9100 and ITAR standards.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of CNC programming across 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mills, strong GD&T skills, and hands-on experience with Mastercam or ESPRIT CAM.

Qualifications

• Aerospace/defense sector experience preferred.
• 5+ years CNC programming on 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mills.
• Proficient with Mastercam or ESPRIT CAM software.
• Ability to read manufacturing work instructions and sketches.
• Strong understanding of CNC machine function and G-Code programming.
• Experience working with GD&T and blueprint interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Develop new CNC programs from engineering drawings, 3D models, and customer specs.
• Create standard work instructions to support CNC setup.
• Read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Select tooling and cutting parameters for various operations.
• Design fixtures and workholding from customer blueprints for production.
• Develop in-process inspection methods to ensure quality.
• Troubleshoot CNC programs and implement improvements.
• Collaborate with engineering to resolve process-related issues.
• Edit and adapt programs for different machine platforms.
• Develop new programming techniques to boost productivity and cycle time.
• Maintain job/part info in the MRP system.
• Ensure AS9100 and ITAR/export controls compliance.
