Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis machining centers.
• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, CAD models, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Select tooling, cutting parameters, workholding methods, and machining sequences.
• Perform program prove-outs and first article support to ensure production readiness.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and revise programs to improve quality, efficiency, and cycle time.
• Collaborate with machinists during setup and production to resolve programming or tooling issues.
• Develop standardized machining processes with Manufacturing Engineering.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100 and customer specifications.
• Maintain accurate program documentation, setup sheets, tooling lists, and revision control.
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for machining-related quality issues.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join our aerospace manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will develop, optimize, and maintain CNC programs for precision-machined aerospace components while ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and production requirements. This position works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Machinists to improve manufacturing processes and reduce cycle times while maintaining exceptional quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC machining centers.
• Develop machining strategies using CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, NX CAM, GibbsCAM, ESPRIT, or Fusion 360.
• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, CAD models, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Select tooling, cutting parameters, workholding methods, and machining sequences.
• Perform program prove-outs and first article support to ensure production readiness.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and revise programs to improve quality, efficiency, and cycle time.
• Work closely with machinists during setup and production to resolve programming or tooling issues.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to develop standardized machining processes.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, scrap reduction, and process capability.
• Maintain accurate program documentation, setup sheets, tooling lists, and revision control.
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for machining-related quality issues.
• Adhere to all safety policies and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in Manufacturing Technology, CNC Programming, or a related field preferred.
• 5+ years of CNC programming experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Aerospace manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (Mastercam preferred).
• Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming.
• Experience programming multi-axis CNC mills and/or mill-turn machines.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret complex GD&T.
• Experience machining aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, and other aerospace alloys.
• Knowledge of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, workholding, and machining best practices.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with 5-axis simultaneous machining.
• Knowledge of aerospace documentation and configuration control.
• Familiarity with CMM inspection processes and manufacturing quality systems.
• Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI).
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.
