Job summary

FMI Aerostructures in California seeks an experienced CNC Programmer to design and optimize 5-axis machining programs for aerospace components. You will plan operations, interpret drawings, and collaborate with engineering to ensure manufacturability.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in CNC programming, CATIA V5 proficiency, and experience with high-temp alloys. Occasional setup, quality checks, and continuous improvement in a precision aerospace environment are expected.

Qualifications

• :Minimum 5 years of CNC programming experience.
• :Experience programming 5-axis vertical and horizontal mills.
• :Knowledge of high-temp alloy metals such as titanium, Inconel, aluminum and stainless steels.
• :Proficient in CATIA V5.
• :Strong 3D solid modeling skills.
• :ITAR requires U.S. person status.

Responsibilities

• Write, develop, and edit CNC programs in conjunction with continuous improvements.
• Plan machining operations by reviewing work orders, blueprints, materials, specifications, drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting GD&T.
• Coordinate with engineering and manufacturing staff to resolve manufacturability issues.
• Create programming instructions, including zero and reference points; set tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculate requirements and prove part programs.
• Analyze drawings and data to determine correct part dimensions, tool selection, speeds, and feeds.
• Occasionally set up and operate CNC equipment as needed.
• Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting operations; taking measurements; troubleshooting; reprogramming controls; sharpening tools.
• Use precision measuring instruments to check work and perform detailed inspection of parts.
• Read instrumentation and gauges to measure dimensions within tolerance.
• Perform quality control tests during manufacturing and on final product.
