Job summary

Sumitomo is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to set up and operate multi-axis CNC machines, ensuring precision and adherence to blueprints. You will read complex drawings, perform dry runs, and validate setups to meet tight tolerances.

The role requires extensive hands-on experience with CNC and manual machines, strong measurement skills, and a commitment to Lean manufacturing and Kaizen activities in a high-velocity shop.

Qualifications

• Requires 12+ years of experience operating a mix of manual, semi-automatic, and CNC machine tools in a fast-paced environment.
• At least 10 years of CNC machining experience.
• 5 years in low volume – high mix production; 2+ years with multi-pallet machines or 4+Axis/5-Sided machining desired.
• Expertise with measuring instruments and reading complex drawings in imperial and metric standards.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, and operate machine tools to perform precision machining with tight tolerances.
• Read and interpret blueprints in imperial and metric standards.
• Test cut/dry run CNC programs before production; ensure parts meet drawings.
• Follow SOPs, process maps, and 5S/Kaizen practices to optimize production flow.
• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, height/depth/bore gauges to ensure tolerances.
• Train operators and participate in time studies to improve efficiency.
