Job summary

General Atomics seeks an experienced machinist to run and set up multi-axis CNC equipment, including 5th axis mills, lathes, and horizontal mills. You will verify part quality against blueprints, adjust tooling, and support process improvement with manufacturing engineers.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree or technical training with 7+ years in machining, strong GD&T knowledge, and the ability to work independently or in teams while maintaining safety and efficiency on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Requires an associate's degree, technical/trade school training or equivalent with 7+ years related experience
• Ability to perform complex set-ups and fabrication of machined parts
• Advanced knowledge of machining equipment and safe practices
• Understanding of cutting tool wear, selection and replacement
• Working knowledge of GD&T
• Advanced knowledge of work coordinate systems in CNC processes
• Ability to read engineering blueprints and diagrams
• Ability to troubleshoot processes and provide feedback
• Team collaboration in a multi-person process development
• Good interpersonal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Run production to print and budget on multi axis CNC machines
• Set up and produce first piece on moderately complex parts
• Use standard and advanced measuring devices to ensure part quality
• Work with Programmers and Manufacturing Engineers to improve processes
• Troubleshoot tooling and work holding during production runs
• Maintain a clean machine and work area
• Deburr parts and prepare tooling/fixtures
• Operate CNC or manual machines and inspect parts against blueprints
• Monitor quality per GA procedures
• Prepare and saw cut raw material
• Layout, fabricate and assemble components when needed
• Coach lower level machinists and assist training
• Observe all laws and company procedures and work safely as directed
