Job summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) in Adelanto seeks a 1st shift 5 axis CNC Machinist to perform complex setup and machining on lathes, mills and grinders. You will review drawings, select tools, and set speeds/feeds to exact tolerances, while maintaining safety and quality on aerospace components.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in machining, 5-axis experience, and NC programming with Mastercam/NX; DoD clearance ability is required for sensitive programs.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or technical/trade school training or equivalent and 7+ years of related experience.
• Must be able to perform non-routine or moderately complex setup and fabrication with minimal direction.
• Strong knowledge of machining equipment and safe practices.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and instructions.
• 5 axis experience preferred; CNC Mill and Manual experience desired.
• Knowledge of programming (Mastercam) and NX experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; DoD security clearance ability required.

Responsibilities

• Review engineering drawings to plan operations and determine tools, speeds, and feeds.
• Set up and operate lathes, mills, or grinders to produce parts to precise tolerances.
• Perform turning, facing, drilling, reaming, boring, and other operations as required.
• Operate CNC machines and perform machine setup for horizontal/vertical lathes, mills, or grinders.
• Load raw stock, secure it, and grind cutting tools as needed.
• Maintain safe work practices and support maintenance on machines.
