Job summary

laborup is seeking a Senior CNC Machinist to join the 2nd shift in the Birmingham area. You will independently set up, edit, and operate CNC equipment to produce precision components to tight tolerances.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints/GDT, selecting tooling, applying G-code and M-code, and performing inspections with micrometers and calipers. You will troubleshoot issues, maintain equipment, document production data, and mentor junior machinists.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of CNC machining experience in manufacturing.
• Proficient in setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes; manual machining a plus.
• Ability to read complex blueprints, drawings and GD&T.
• Working knowledge of G-code and M-code.
• Strong understanding of tooling, feeds/speeds and materials.
• Proficient with precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and adjust CNC mills, lathes, grinders and related equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, GD&T, and work instructions.
• Select tooling, establish offsets, and make machine edits using G-code/M-code.
• Produce precision components meeting tight tolerances and quality standards.
• Perform first-piece, in-process and final inspections with precision instruments.
• Troubleshoot machining issues to minimize downtime.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and report concerns.
• Document production data accurately and communicate issues to team.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized work environment and mentor others.
