Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Sector is seeking a Milling Machine Machinist 4 for 2nd shift (3:30 PM to 12 AM) in Redondo Beach, CA. The role focuses on setup and operation of CNC and manual equipment to produce complex aerospace hardware, with GD&T drawings and precision inspection as core tasks.

You will mentor junior machinists, collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality and Planning, and leverage Mastercam, Vericut, Catia, and NX to improve processes and reduce variability.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED plus 6 years of experience as CNC Programmer or Machinist.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings / GD&T.
• Experience with multi-axis machining and turning with live tooling.
• Experience with common CNC controls and basic program edits.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and manual equipment to produce aerospace hardware.
• Interpret drawings, verify with precision measuring tools, and ensure conformance to NG Space procedures.
• Mentor junior machinists and apprentices; collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Planning and Production.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives (5S, lean) and optimize processes.
• Use CAM tools (Mastercam, Vericut, Catia, NX) to improve manufacturability and repeatability.
