Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Sector in Redondo Beach, CA, seeks a Milling Machine Machinist 4 for 2nd shift (3:30 PM - 12 AM) to set up and operate CNC/milling equipment producing complex aerospace hardware. You will interpret drawings with GD&T and plan turning/mill-turn operations with live tooling.

The role requires CAM experience (Mastercam, Vericut, NX, Catia, AutoCAD) and a track record in precision aerospace machining, with a bias toward quality, schedule, and cost.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED plus 6 years of CNC experience.
• Proficiency with Mastercam, Smartcam, or GIBBS.
• Experience in Swiss-type turning (Tsugami) and/or mill-turn operations.
• Multi-axis machining and turning with live tooling.
• Experience in high-speed machining.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings / GD&T.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools and inspection documentation.
• Experience in aerospace materials (aluminum, titanium, stainless steels).
• Experience in AS9100 or similar controlled process documentation.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and manual equipment to produce aerospace hardware.
• Create, adjust, and optimize CNC programs at the machine.
• Verify work with precision measurement tools and maintain quality.
• Mentor junior machinists and apprentices on setups and best practices.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Production to improve manufacturability.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives (5S, lean) and CAM tooling usage.
