Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Sector in Redondo Beach, CA is seeking a Milling Machine Machinist 4 for the 2nd shift (3:30 PM to 12 AM). The role requires setting up and operating CNC/milling machines to produce aerospace hardware per NG Space procedures, interpreting GD&T, and maintaining quality.

The ideal candidate will mentor junior machinists, collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Planning and Production, and drive continuous improvement initiatives while leveraging CAM tools like

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED plus 6 years of CNC programming experience.
• Proficiency in programming using Mastercam, Smartcam, or GIBBS is required.
• Experience in Swiss-type turning and/or mill-turn operations.
• Experience in multi-axis machining and turning with live tooling.
• Experience in high-speed machining and reading/interpretation of engineering drawings with GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC milling machines and verify part quality.
• Read drawings and GD&T to ensure conformance.
• Mentor junior machinists and apprentices on setups and best practices.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Production to improve manufacturability.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives (5S/lean) and CAM tool optimization.
