Job summary

Aluminum Precision Products is seeking a CNC Machine Shop Lead in Santa Ana, CA to oversee all operations and lead a team of skilled machinists. The role requires deep CNC and conventional setup knowledge, strong blueprint-reading ability, and experience with ERP systems.

You will drive quality, safety, and on-time delivery while coordinating with inspection and production teams. The successful candidate will train staff, manage work flow, and ensure adherence to process specifications.

Qualifications

• Must have comprehensive knowledge of all equipment in the machine shop.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Have at least ten years of CNC and conventional setup knowledge and operation.
• Some vocational training in machining and manufacturing fields.
• Excellent blueprint reading skills.
• First article layout skills.
• Good math skills.
• Experience with ERP software.
• Strong background in inspection of aerospace parts and forgings.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with others.
• Ability to edit and write CNC programs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations performed by personnel under supervision.
• Inspect parts visually and by touch and remove flash and excess material.
• Use surface-grinding tools to remove defects.
• Maintain accurate part counts and ensure on-time delivery.
• Assign tasks based on workload and review master schedule.
• Coordinate with inspection and quality teams to meet OTD goals.
• Approve CNC program updates and maintain program files.
• Instruct and train shop staff on company standards.
• Provide coverage for supervisor when needed.
• Communicate company policies and safety rules.
• Contribute to ongoing education and best practices in the shop.
