Job summary

Texas Oncology is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant II to join our Gateway, El Paso location. Typical hours are Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm. The role includes assisting physicians, recording patient data, preparing treatment rooms, and performing injections as delegated by the RN or physician.

The ideal candidate possesses a CMA with current BCLS certification, and the position specifies entry-level to experienced levels with potential growth in a busy oncology setting.

Qualifications

• 0-3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
• Current BCLS certification within 3 months of hire.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• Some state regulations may require specific certifications to work as a Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.
• Record patient data prior to each visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
• Obtain all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
• Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
• Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
• Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated by RN or physician.
• Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
• Answer patient telephone calls for referrals to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
• Enter orders under a provider’s direction and supervision.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Certificate of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistants program

Current BCLS certification within 3 months of hire
