Job summary

Texas Oncology is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant II to join the Gateway, El Paso location. Typical hours are Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm.

The role supports physicians with patient care, clinic operations, and administrative tasks in a busy oncology setting. The ideal candidate will have a CMA certification preference, BCLS, and relevant experience, with opportunities for LTIP participation and employee benefits.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Certificate of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistants program preferred.
• Entry level position with 0-3 years experience as a medical/nursing assistant.
• Current BCLS certification within 3 months of hire.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• Some state regulations may require specific certifications to work as a Medical Assistant.
• Level 2 requires minimum three years experience; Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Level Sr requires minimum five years experience; CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.
• Record patient data prior to physician visits, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
• Obtain patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
• Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies.
• Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
• Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated.
• Maintain exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
• Answer patient calls for referrals or prescriptions as directed.
• Inform physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
• Perform administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, reception.

Education

High school graduate or equivalent

Certificate of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistants program

Current BCLS certification

Certified Medical Assistant preferred

State regulations may require specific certifications
