Job summary

Texas Oncology is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at the Joe Battle, El Paso location. Typical hours are Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, with local travel to another clinic in El Paso.

The role supports physicians and clinicians in a clinical environment, promoting efficient patient flow and patient care, including exams and procedures, along with clerical tasks and schedule maintenance. OSHA/ethics compliance is required.

Qualifications

• Entry level position; 0–3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
• Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• Some state regulations may require specific certifications to work as a Medical Assistant.
• Level 2 requires minimum three years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
• Level Sr requires minimum five years experience and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to and from exam rooms and offices as appropriate.
• Record patient data prior to physician visits including vital signs, height, weight, allergies and medication changes.
• Obtain necessary patient records prior to treatment or procedures.
• Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
• Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
• Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated by RN or physician.
• Maintain exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
• Answer patient calls and refer to physician or nurse/pharmacist as needed.
• Phoning in prescriptions and other patient communications as directed by physicians/RN.
• Inform physician of patient reschedules and no-shows.
• Perform other administrative duties as requested.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Certificate from accredited Medical Assistant program
