Job summary

Texas Oncology is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our El Paso (Joe Battle) team. Typical hours are Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm with local travel to another clinic in El Paso. The role involves direct patient care under supervision and a mix of clinical and administrative tasks in an oncology setting.

Qualifications

• Entry-level position with 0-3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
• Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• Some state regulations may require specific certifications to work as a Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.
• Records patient data prior to each physician visit (vital signs, height, weight, allergies, medication changes).
• Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
• Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies as needed.
• Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
• Maintains exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
• Answers patient calls for referrals, prescriptions, and nurse/pharmacist instructions.
• May enter orders under a provider’s direction.
