Job summary

Sphere Entertainment Co. is hiring a Senior System Development Engineer to join the Cloud Services team. You will design, deploy, and maintain the infrastructure enabling Studio and Production workflows, and build tools that glue these workflows together.

Expect collaboration across pipeline engineers, end users, and stakeholders to solve complex production challenges. Applicants should bring 8+ years in cloud infrastructure development and operations, strong GCP experience, and hands-on IaC,

Qualifications

• 8 years minimum experience developing, deploying, monitoring, and maintaining infrastructure and services in a cloud environment.
• Strong experience designing secure cloud VPCs, firewalls, and routing tables.
• Experience with Linux, Windows, and MacOS.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container-based deployments.
• Experience with GCP.
• Infrastructure-as-code tools: Terraform, CDK, Palumi, etc.
• Strong knowledge of REST, microservices, serverless, pub/sub patterns.
• CI/CD tools: GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD.
• APM tools: Prometheus/Grafana, DataDog, Sentry, NewRelic.
• Experience with VFX/Post-Production pipelines a plus.
• Scripting with Python and Bash; Git for version control.
• Hybrid On-Prem/Cloud Infrastructure a plus.
• Experience with Flow Production Tracking (ShotGrid) a plus.
• Experience with Deadline render manager a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy, and maintain production applications, services, and datastores.
• Design, deploy, and monitor cloud infrastructure that enable efficient, secure, and reliable Production workflows.
• Scope, manage, and implement the migration of legacy on-prem services to cloud-based infrastructure.
• Lead collaboration between pipeline engineers, end users, and stakeholders to create scalable and secure solutions from concept to deployment.
• Shepherd and implement all changes in an IaC deployment workflow.
• Monitor, refine, and optimize existing cloud service architecture and resource usage.
