Job summary

Peraton is seeking a senior Cloud Software Engineer to join a product development team. The role focuses on agile software design and development for solutions deployed on large-scale compute and storage clusters in a COOP environment.

You will perform requirements analysis, design, development, installation, integration, testing, and operations monitoring. You will also mentor junior staff and contribute to AWS/hybrid cloud architectures and cost-optimized deployments.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with current polygraph.
• BS in a technical field and 8 years of experience; Masters and 6 years; or an additional four years in lieu of degree.
• Experience in software development lifecycle including requirements analysis, development, installation, integration, evaluation, maintenance, testing and problem diagnosis/resolution.
• Experience in Java, C, C++ programming languages.
• 5+ years developing software for UNIX/Linux (Redhat) operating systems.
• Strong Java programming for distributed systems with networking, multi-threading and debugging.
• Proficiency with IaC tools: Salt, CDK, Terraform.
• Experience in CI/CD, testing and Ops Monitoring practices.
• Agile development with source control management.
• Linux fundamentals and scripting (Python, Ruby, Perl, etc.).
• Familiarity with microservices, Kubernetes and Docker.
• AWS Cloud experience, hybrid cloud environments and related technologies.
• Cloud Developer Certifications such as AWS Developer-Associate, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, CKAD, or Elastic Certified Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Perform requirements analysis, software design, development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution.
• Communicate directions clearly and guide junior and mid-level programmers/analysts.
• Develop solutions that integrate or extend COTS or GOTS products.
• Lead project needs assessment, task estimation, code/architecture reviews, and design validation.
