Scribd, Inc. is seeking a Staff Cloud Security Engineer to lead security architecture across AWS and GCP, drive guardrails, and mentor engineering teams. This hands‑on role focuses on securing cloud workloads, identity, secrets, and telemetry while shaping the security roadmap.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Infrastructure, Product, and Security teams, with a strong emphasis on risk reduction, secure-by-default configurations, and scalable security practices.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in cloud or infrastructure security engineering.
• Proven ability to shape security architecture and lead cross-team initiatives.
• Deep IAM expertise, including least privilege and cross-account access.
• Experience securing cloud workloads (Kubernetes, containers, runtime protection).
• Strong IaC and automation skills (Terraform, Python/Go).
• Experience with cloud security visibility and incident response.
• Track record of delivering measurable security improvements.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve cloud security architecture and guardrails across AWS and GCP.
• Strengthen identity and access management across cloud environments.
• Define and improve secrets management and data protection standards.
• Drive security for cloud workloads, including Kubernetes and container security.
• Partner with infrastructure teams to secure deployment paths and CI/CD.
• Build reusable security capabilities and policy-as-code guardrails.
• Define cloud telemetry requirements and detect cloud-native threats.
• Lead security initiatives and mentor engineers, balancing risk and engineering progress.
