Job summary

Altana is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a group responsible for regulated and sovereign environments across AWS/Azure. You will report to the Senior Director of Platform Engineering and guide a small, distributed team in the US, UK, and Australia.

You will drive standardization of environment builds, oversee design decisions, and stay hands-on with tooling while collaborating with Security and Compliance to meet accreditations and SLAs.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating cloud infrastructure in production.
• Direct experience delivering into US federal or other highly regulated environments.
• Experience leading engineers across distant time zones.
• Capacity to own performance, growth, and hiring for a team.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and operation of regulated environments across AWS/Azure and IaC tooling.
• Lead standardization of environment builds into a repeatable blueprint.
• Ensure design reviews and RFCs maintain high quality.
• Hands-on with operational tooling or greenfield projects.
• Collaborate with Security and Compliance to embed secure-by-default patterns.
• Maintain accreditations, remediation, and data handling obligations.
• Manage SLAs, multi-region deployments, and outages response.
• Represent the team in audits and customer technical discussions.
• Own planning processes and go-live commitments for teams.
• Develop runbooks, docs, capacity plans, and on-call coverage.
