Altana, the network for trusted trade, is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for the Cloud Engineering team to lead regulated and sovereign environments across AWS and Azure. You will guide a small distributed team, own infrastructure and tooling, and partner with Security and Compliance to enforce secure-by-default patterns.

This role can be fully remote in the United States or based in our Brooklyn, NY or Washington, DC hubs with hybrid flexibility; base salary ranges from $240,000 to

Qualifications

• Background in SRE or platform engineering leadership.
• Experience managing engineers directly with growth and performance ownership.
• 8+ years building and operating cloud infrastructure in production.
• Experience delivering into regulated government environments (FedRAMP or equivalent).
• Production experience with AWS/Azure.
• Hands-on Kubernetes experience including cluster management.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and technical judgment.
• Experience designing tooling for air-gapped, compliance-heavy infra.
• Proven record establishing operational practice (runbooks, on-call, docs).
• Strong written and verbal communication across teams.

Responsabilités

• Own architecture and operation of regulated environments on AWS/Azure.
• Standardize environment builds into a reusable blueprint.
• Oversee design reviews, RFCs, prototypes, and tooling.
• Stay hands-on with operational tooling and greenfield projects.
• Collaborate with Security and Compliance on secure-by-default patterns.
• Lead audits and customer discussions on security posture and data residency.
