Job summary

Sidley Austin LLP is seeking a Software Development Senior Manager to architect, build, and operate a cloud-native automation platform using Azure. This position requires a deep knowledge of .NET, React, Azure, and modern DevOps practices, along with hands-on experience in large-scale distributed systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field; or equivalent professional experience with demonstrable cloud architecture expertise.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in software engineering, information technology, or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of hands-on software engineering experience, including cloud-based applications and solutions.
• Minimum of 3 years of direct people management experience leading software teams.
• Strong technical foundation with ability to mentor engineers and delegate while empowering execution.
• Experience delivering large-scale enterprise-grade applications and solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve the distributed system architecture for the cloud-native automation platform, including Azure services.
• Develop event-driven architectures using Azure Service Bus for high-volume processing.
• Optimize platform performance, cost, and complexity through architectural improvements.
• Lead .NET backend development including ASP.NET Core APIs and CQRS/MediatR patterns.
• Conduct code reviews ensuring SOLID principles and asynchronous programming best practices.
• Own multi-stage Azure DevOps YAML pipelines for infrastructure deployment and deployments.
• Mentor software engineers and grow cloud engineering capabilities.
