Job summary

Samsara, the Connected Operations Cloud, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to join the Developer Experience team. You will help scale AI-enabled CI/CD, build safeguards, and drive automation across the SDLC for production-grade reliability.

With a remote-first model and over 2.3 million IoT devices deployed, you will be at the forefront of AI-assisted software development, shaping how engineers work with AI tooling while delivering high-value outcomes for global customers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience designing and building products in a software engineering team.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience working on developer experience, CICD and/or platform engineering-focused teams.
• Experience in building AI workflows, orchestration systems or other harnesses of AI.
• Proven track record in architecting CICD systems, build and deploy platforms, and automated response workflows (Buildkite or BYOC).
• Proven experience working on large-scale enterprise software applications.
• Experience in building and maintaining a large organization's Software Development Life Cycle (DevEx).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or the like).
• Experience implementing AI-driven automation across the SDLC to reduce friction and accelerate delivery.
• Proficient in Go or Python focused on infrastructure, deployment, and operations.
• Experienced orchestrating multiple AI agents at scale.
• Strong leadership and direction setting; able to raise the bar for peers.

Responsibilities

• Help scale our in-house CI/CD systems to meet the needs of a rapidly expanding engineering organization.
• Reduce tech debt using efficient AI workflows that would be cost prohibitive otherwise.
• Design and build deployment safeguards that protect production at scale with AI monitoring.
• Build observability, evaluation, and feedback systems for AI-driven automation.
• Serve as a thought leader for using AI to increase engineering productivity while ensuring safety and quality.
• Redefine the outer loop of the SDLC with AI-native workflows that scale throughput safely.
• Push AI capabilities toward safe, observable, and production-ready engineering systems.
• Partner with product engineering teams to reduce toil and make AI-enabled delivery easy to adopt.
• Help Samsara stay on the cutting edge by bold experimentation and rapid learning.
