Job summary

Amperon is seeking a Staff Cloud Platform Engineer to own major parts of the Azure and Kubernetes platform that runs our product, data pipelines and AI agents. You will join a small Infrastructure & Security team, and report to the Director of Infrastructure & Security.

This is a hands-on, senior individual-contributor role with shared ownership of the platform and on-call responsibilities. You will set technical direction, lead multi-month programs from design to cutover, and raise the bar for

Qualifications

• 8+ years in infrastructure, platform or site reliability engineering, including senior ownership of production systems.
• Led multi-month infrastructure programs from design to rollout and cleanup.
• Deep hands-on Kubernetes experience in production with managed offerings (AKS/EKS/GKE).
• Strong Terraform skills on large codebases with GitOps workflows (Atlantis/ArgoCD).
• Production experience with at least one major cloud; Azure preferred, AWS/GCP also acceptable.
• Experience operating relational or analytical databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL/ClickHouse).
• Security embedded in work: least privilege, secret management and network isolation.
• Observability best practices: metrics, logs, traces with OpenTelemetry, and reliable alerting.
• Proficient in Python and shell scripting for automation.
• Clear written communication across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Shape and evolve the Kubernetes platform (AKS) and related workloads.
• Lead Terraform estate management, provider upgrades and guardrails for safe changes.
• Ensure data stores are resilient with replication, backups and upgrades.
• Build isolated, auditable environments for AI agents and MCP services.
• Improve platform observability with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana and alerting in code.
• Drive cloud cost optimizations and Azure savings.
• Share on-call burden across time zones and lead incident responses.
• Mentor engineers, review code, and document systems to avoid single points of failure.
