Job summary

Abbott in Alameda, CA is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to build and manage cloud infrastructure in Azure using IaC, and to develop robust CI/CD pipelines for a scalable health platform. You will contribute to SRE practices, implement security controls, and enhance observability while collaborating across time zones to deliver reliable software in production.

This onsite role requires strong communication and technical leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years in cloud infrastructure, DevOps or platform engineering with production experience.
• Working knowledge of Azure cloud services and provisioning across compute, networking, storage, identity.
• Experience with Terraform or Bicep and reusable modules in a team.
• CI/CD design and operation with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Understanding of SRE including SLOs, alerting, on-call and incident response.
• Observability tooling for monitoring, logging and tracing in cloud-native environments.

Responsibilities

• Build, provision, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure using IaC, matching established patterns.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable, frequent software delivery.
• Support SRE by defining SLOs/SLIs, alerts, and on-call participation.
• Monitor and respond to platform incidents with root cause analysis and remediation.
• Build observability dashboards, log pipelines, tracing, and metrics for services.
• Implement cloud security controls with IAM, network security, and compliance tooling.
• Contribute to disaster recovery and backups and collaborate across teams.
• Document infrastructure, runbooks, and deployment procedures for a distributed team.
