Abbott Laboratories is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to build and evolve full-stack, cloud-native SaaS applications on Microsoft Azure. You will architect microservices, mentor engineers, and ensure secure, scalable delivery of healthcare software.

The role emphasizes leadership in Java/Spring Boot, Azure PaaS, and frontend tech like Angular/NgRx, with a focus on performance, design patterns, and Agile collaboration.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend development experience with ability to lead development in Java 11+, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST API development
• Experience building cloud-native SaaS applications on Azure Cloud and using Azure PaaS services
• Knowledge of frontend basics (Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML/CSS) and state management (NgRx)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and testing tools (JUnit, Jest)

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and implement microservices using Java 11+, Spring Boot, and REST APIs (GraphQL is a plus)
• Build cloud-native SaaS applications on Azure following well-architected principles
• Work with Azure PaaS services (Service Bus, Cosmos DB, Blob Storage, Redis Cache, Identity Manager)
• Create responsive UI with Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML
• Implement NgRx state management and utilize charting/grid libraries (amCharts, AG-Grid)
• Write unit tests with JUnit and Jest; apply static code analysis
• Conduct load testing with JMeter and Lighthouse
• Mentor junior engineers and drive architectural decisions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile (Scrum/Kanban)
