Job summary

ID.me is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to architect, scale, and maintain the core cloud-native platform and data infrastructure powering its digital identity platform. You will own multi-region Kubernetes fleets, automated GitOps pipelines, and policy-as-code governance.

Based in Mountain View, CA or McLean, VA, this full-time in-office role collaborates with Platform, Security, SRE, and Product Engineering teams to deliver high-availability services and self-service capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of professional experience in platform engineering, SRE, or cloud data infrastructure.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Bash, SQL, or Java.
• Deep experience operating enterprise-scale Kubernetes fleets (GKE/EKS).
• Extensive experience writing modular Terraform and managing Infrastructure as Code at scale.
• Experience with Airflow, Kafka, or BigQuery.

Responsibilities

• Operate Cloud-Native Kubernetes Fleets: lifecycle management, multi-region deployment of production clusters (GKE/EKS).
• Maintain automated GitOps reconciliation pipelines using FluxCD and Helm.
• Architect modular Terraform codebases and manage Terraform Enterprise/Terragrunt workspaces.
• Build and optimize data pipelines with Apache Airflow, Kafka, and BigQuery.
• Enforce zero-trust security, secret management, and workload identity controls.
• Lead complex infrastructure migrations with zero downtime and minimal customer impact.
• Participate in on-call rotations, design observability dashboards, and DR drills.
• Mentor mid-level and junior engineers through code/design reviews.
