Job summary

Ford’s EVDD team builds and maintains cloud-native, distributed microservices powering connected vehicle experiences. You will design, implement, and operate scalable services using Java, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, Kafka, and AWS at large scale.

You will mentor engineers, improve reliability, and align technical decisions with product and regulatory priorities across the Ford Connected Vehicle ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical work experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and operating production-grade distributed microservices.
• 8+ years of experience with Java and Spring Boot development.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Kafka and real-time data streaming architectures.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, primarily AWS with openness to GCP.
• 3+ years of experience with API design and development (REST, gRPC, JSON, OpenAPI/Swagger).
• 3+ years of experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and CI/CD pipelines (ArgoCD, Concourse, GitHub).
• 3+ years of operational experience with monitoring, telemetry, and incident response tools (Grafana, Dynatrace, DataDog, OpenTelemetry, VictoriaMetrics, Prometheus, PagerDuty).

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of software services powering critical customer experiences and platform infrastructure.
• Act as domain owner for critical services, lead root-cause analysis for incidents, and drive reliability improvements.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for distributed systems within the device connectivity platform.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with product, operations, and cross-platform teams.
