Job summary

Ford is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own end-to-end delivery of cloud-native services powering connected vehicle experiences. You’ll lead domain-focused initiatives, drive reliability, and guide architectural decisions across distributed microservices.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product and operations teams, and ensure scalable, secure solutions. A strong focus on observability, performance, and agile delivery is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical work experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and operating production-grade distributed microservices.
• 8+ years of experience with Java and Spring Boot development.
• 5+ years with Kafka and real-time data streaming architectures.
• 5+ years with cloud infrastructure (AWS, with exposure to GCP).
• 3+ years API design (REST, gRPC, JSON, OpenAPI/Swagger).
• 3+ years with PostgreSQL and CI/CD pipelines (ArgoCD, Concourse, GitHub).
• 3+ years with monitoring/telemetry/incident response tools (Grafana, Dynatrace, DataDog, OpenTelemetry, VictoriaMetrics, Prometheus, PagerDuty).

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of software services powering critical customer experiences and platform infrastructure.
• Act as a domain owner for critical services, driving reliability and performance improvements.
• Provide leadership and architectural guidance for distributed systems within the device connectivity platform.
• Mentor engineers and align execution with product, operations, and regulatory priorities.
• Lead design reviews, establish best practices, and influence technical direction.
