Job summary

Ford’s EVDD team is hiring a senior software leader to own end-to-end delivery of cloud-based services that power critical customer experiences. You will guide distributed microservices, design standards, and platform reliability while mentoring engineers and collaborating with product, operations, and cross-functional teams.

You’ll drive architectural decisions, governance, and platform modernization to support secure, scalable, and global services across the Ford Connected Vehicle ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical work experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience in distributed microservices.
• 8+ years of Java and Spring Boot development.
• 5+ years with Kafka and real-time data streaming architectures.
• 5+ years with cloud infrastructure, primarily AWS with exposure to GCP.
• 3+ years API design and development (REST, gRPC, JSON, OpenAPI/Swagger).
• 3+ years relational databases (PostgreSQL) and CI/CD pipelines (ArgoCD, Concourse, GitHub).
• 3+ years monitoring/telemetry and incident response tools (Grafana, Dynatrace, DataDog, OpenTelemetry, VictoriaMetrics, Prometheus, PagerDuty) including on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of software services powering customer experiences and platform infrastructure.
• Act as domain owner for critical services, mitigate risks, lead root-cause analysis, improve reliability and performance.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for distributed systems, define standards and security.
• Mentor engineers, conduct reviews, share knowledge, and align execution with product and regulatory priorities.
• Collaborate with product, operations and cross-platform teams to ensure scalable, resilient solutions.
• Drive platform modernization and long-term architectural improvements with data-informed decisions.
• Evaluate decisions with enterprise impact, considering security, cost and external partners.
• Lead design reviews, set best practices, and communicate complex ideas to stakeholders.
