Job summary

QTS Data Centers is seeking a Cloud Engineer II to deploy, configure, troubleshoot, and ensure continuity of client and QTS infrastructures. The role emphasizes VMware ESXi, Windows, Linux, and cloud technologies, with a strong focus on automation and problem resolution.

The candidate will analyze incidents, implement automation using Python/Ansible/PowerShell, document changes, and collaborate with a 24x7 Operations Center to maintain high availability for enterprise clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
• Seven or more years of progressive IT engineering experience.
• Advanced experience deploying, upgrading and migrating complex private cloud environments using VMware vCenter Server and ESXi.
• Advanced experience configuring network virtualization technologies (NSX).
• Advanced experience configuring High Availability and clustering.
• Advanced knowledge of SMTP, SNMP, SSL, SSH and DNS.
• Advanced experience deploying and administering Windows, CentOS and Red Hat operating systems.
• Advanced understanding of Python, Ansible, PowerShell, and/or JavaScript/JSON/REST API.
• Advanced understanding of BGP, HSRP and IP subnetting.
• Experience with Active Directory and Exchange administration at enterprise level.
• Experience with IT monitoring systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain knowledge of assigned tasks and projects.
• Deploy and support VMware ESXi on various hardware platforms.
• Monitor, diagnose and troubleshoot Windows and Linux platforms.
• Plan and execute scheduled system maintenance and upgrades.
• Plan capacity monitoring and management.
• Write and update infrastructure documentation and change records.
• Manage escalated tickets to ensure SLA compliance and customer satisfaction.
• Provide operational support based on monitoring alerts and incidents.
• Deliver customer-focused support via phone and ticket communications.
• Coordinate with 24x7x365 Operations Service Center and be flexible in availability.
