Job summary

QTS Data Centers is seeking a Cloud Engineer II to design, deploy, and support private cloud infrastructures and related automation. You will handle VMware ESXi, Windows and Linux platforms, and work with NSX, Python, Ansible and REST APIs to ensure high availability and customer satisfaction.

The role emphasizes proactive problem resolution, documentation, and collaboration with 24x7 operations. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent, plus 7+ years of IT engineering experience, are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Seven+ years of progressive IT engineering experience.
• Advanced experience deploying, upgrading and migrating complex private cloud environments with VMware vCenter Server and ESXi.
• Advanced experience configuring NSX and high availability/clustering.
• Advanced knowledge of SMTP, SNMP, SSL, SSH and DNS.
• Advanced experience deploying and administering Windows, CentOS and Red Hat.
• Advanced understanding of Python, Ansible, PowerShell, and/or JavaScript/JSON/REST API.
• Advanced security hardening aligned to compliance standards.
• Experience with Active Directory and Exchange in enterprise environments.
• Experience with IT monitoring systems.
• US Citizenship is required by law for this position.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain knowledge of assigned tasks, areas or projects.
• Deploy and support VMware ESXi on various hardware platforms.
• Deploy, monitor, diagnose and troubleshoot Windows and Linux platforms using diagnostic tools.
• Plan and execute scheduled system maintenance, hardware/software upgrades and patching.
• Plan and execute capacity monitoring and management.
• Create/update infrastructure documentation and diagrams.
• Write/update or review Change Requests and related docs.
• Manage escalated tickets to ensure SLA and customer satisfaction.
• Provide operational support in response to monitoring alerts and incidents.
• Respond to production issues and drive resolution.
• Deliver customer-focused support via phone and ticketing systems.
• Collaborate with 24x7x365 Operations Service Center and be flexible in availability.
