Job summary

TaxBit is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead cloud infrastructure in our Systems, Security & Compliance org. You will own AWS infrastructure, drive automation, and help shape our AI Ops/DevOps strategy, collaborating with engineering, security, and compliance stakeholders to raise reliability and velocity.

You will build scalable data storage patterns, implement robust backup/disaster recovery, and ensure secure, observable systems across services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science or a related field
• Significant experience with AWS cloud infrastructure
• Strong programming skills in Python, TypeScript or equivalent
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, GitHub, and Infrastructure-as-Code (AWS CDK preferred, Terraform acceptable)
• Experience designing backup strategy, data architecture, and disaster recovery for cloud systems
• Experience logging, monitoring, and observability solutions
• Security-minded with guardrails in engineering workflows
• Workflow automation and debugging across distributed systems
• Familiarity with Linear/Jira and Databricks
• Familiarity with AI governance frameworks (ISO 42001) and AI security risks

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate secure, highly available cloud infrastructure on AWS
• Own infrastructure-as-code with AWS CDK or Terraform
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines (GitHub/GitHub Actions) for reliable deployments
• Define and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies
• Architect data storage and processing to support scalability and cost efficiency
• Implement centralized logging, monitoring, and observability
• Maintain security guardrails across development lifecycle
• Automate workflows to reduce manual toil in infrastructure provisioning
• Debug complex issues in distributed cloud-native systems
• Implement AI Ops/AI DevOps practices for production pipelines
• Collaborate with engineering, security, and compliance teams using tools like GitHub, Linear/Jira, Databricks
